CCNP Lab 041: Internet Protocol version 6 Lab

Lab Objective:

The  focus of this lab is to understand RIPng implementation and configuration in  Cisco IOS routers. Additional technologies include stateless auto-configuration  and summarization.

Lab Topology:

The  lab network topology is illustrated below:

department641

IMPORTANT NOTE

If you are using the www.howtonetwork.net racks, please bring up the LAN interfaces connected to the routers by issuing    the no shutdown command    on the connected switches. If you are using a home lab with no         Switches, you can bring up the LAN interfaces    using the following configurations on your routers:

interface    fastethernet 0/0  no keepalive  loopback  no shutdown

Alternately, you can simply connect the    interfaces to a hub or switch if you have one available in your own lab.

Task 1

Configure  hostnames and IPv6 addressing on all routers as illustrated in the network  topology.  Do NOT configure an IPv6  address on R4s FastEthernet 0/0 interface.

Task 2

Configure  R4 so that it uses stateless auto-configuration to dynamically provision its  address. Ensure that this router also has a default route in its routing table.  Verify your configuration.

Task 3

Configure  RIPng on R1, R2, and R3. RIPng messages should be exchanged using UDP port 520.   Do  NOT enable RIPng for the LAN subnet connected to R1. Next configure your  network so that R2 is able to reach R4; however, R3 should NOT be able to reach  R4. You are NOT allowed to use redistribution, any types of route filters on  any router in the network, or static routes. Verify your configuration using  the appropriate commands.

Task 4

Configure  the following Loopback interfaces on R3 and redistribute them via RIPng:

  1. Loopback 1: IPv6  address 2002:abcd:1234:a::4/128
  2. Loopback 2: IPv6  address 2002:abcd:1234:b::4/128
  3. Loopback 3: IPv6  address 2002:abcd:1234:c::4/128
  4. Loopback 4: IPv6  address 2002:abcd:1234:d::4/128
  5. Loopback 5: IPv6  address 2002:abcd:1234:e::4/128

Next,  configure RIPng to advertise a SINGLE route for these 5 Loopback interfaces. Ensure  that this single route is advertised to R1 and R2 and the specific prefixes are  suppressed. Verify your configuration using the appropriate commands as well as  standard or extended pings.

Task 5

Configure  RIPng so that all routes that R2 receives from R3 have a route metric of 10.  Verify your configuration using the appropriate commands.
