Enterprise WAN Design – WAN QoS Considerations

One of the key aspects that must be considered when designing WAN solutions is Quality of Service. There are many different categories of the DiffServ QoS approach, including the following:

  • Shaping
  • Policing
  • Congestion management
  • Congestion avoidance
  • Link efficiency mechanisms

QoS techniques are often used in WANs because of their bandwidth characteristics, which are usually low compared to LAN implementations.
