IP Security for VPNs

IPsec represents a suite of protocols working together to achieve different security features in IP networks. Virtual Private Networks provide connections between devices that do not literally share a physical cable. By using VPNs, networks look like they are connected but the connections between them are just logical connections. IPsec ensures data protection on top of the specific logical connections.

IPsec VPN Functionality
IPsec helps protect the information that is transmitted through the VPN and it can be one of two varieties:

  • Site-to-site VPNs
  • Remote access VPNs
