IGP – Filtering EIGRP Routes

Cisco IOS software supports route filtering for both EIGRP and OSPF using distribute lists. In addition to this, both protocols also support additional route filtering mechanisms that are exclusive to each individual protocol. While going into all filtering mechanisms is beyond the scope of the ROUTE exam, you should be intimately familiar with distribute lists and their application when using either OSPF or EIGRP.

NOTE: It should also be noted that redistribution can also be used to filter routing information from external route sources. Redistribution is described in detail later in this chapter.
