Path Control – Cisco IOS IP Service Level Agreement

Cisco IOS IP SLA allows you to monitor, analyze and verify IP service levels for IP applications and services, to increase productivity, to lower operational costs, and to reduce occurrences of network congestion or outages. IP SLA uses active traffic monitoring for measuring network performance. IP SLA was first integrated and introduced into Cisco IOS software as Response Time Reporter (RTR). Following some improvements, it was renamed Cisco Service Assurance Agent (SAA). In current IOS versions, the same tool is referred to as IP SLA.
