IPv6 – RIPng for IP version 6

Interestingly, while Routing Information Protocol is beyond the scope of the ROUTE exam as it is covered in the current CCNA exam, Routing Information Protocol next generation (RIPng), which evolved from RIPv2 and is updated specifically to support IPv6, is a requirement of the current ROUTE exam. For the most part, RIPng is very similar to the RIPv2 specification. The similarities between RIPng and RIPv2 are listed in Table 8-11.
